Q. How much components can the 300W SFX in the case support?
A:
The TFX 300W unit used in the SG05/SG06 was selected and tuned by SilverStone engineers for improved quietness and performance (300W continuous power at 50C). It has dedicated +12V rail for graphics card (16A, peak 19A) to provide more than enough power for any 9" long dual slot graphics cards. We actually do not recommend using off the shelf SFX PSUs at this time as they may not be designed to work well in the SG05/SG06 environment as we have done with the included unit.
As a reference, here is a list of components used in the SG05 development system:
Intel Core 2 Quad 9550 95W CPU
MSI IM-Q35 DO Industrial Mini-ITX motherboard
Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C5DX DDR2 memory
*AMD Radeon HD4850 graphics card*
WD Raptor 150GB + VelociRaptor 300GB 10,000rpm hard drives
Slim Blu-ray drive
*The Radeon HD4850 was the highest powered card that can fit inside the SG05 at the time of development (more than NVIDIA GTS 250, which is a dual slot design.)
Q. Front panel connectors installation guide.
A:
Power switch and reset switch installation guide:
Please refer to the motherboard manuals for the motherboard’s “Front Panel Connector” or “System Panel Connector” pin definition. Power switch and reset switch have no polarity, so they can be connected in any orientation.
LED connector installation guide:
Please refer to the motherboard manuals for the motherboard’s “Front Panel Connector” or “System Panel Connector” pin definition.
White colored wires are negative while other colored wires are positive.
Power LED connector is designed as separate pins for compatibility with different motherboard specifications.
Q. USB 3.0 Cable Upgrade Guide
A:
1. Loosen four screws located on the back of SG05.
2. Push top-cover in the direction as shown gently and finally pull up to remove it from the SG05.
3. Loosen two screws located on 3.5” HDD tray and detach it gently.
4. Loosen six screws located near slim optical drive tray and detach it gently.
5. Loosen two screws near front I/O module and detach it gently.
6. Install USB 3.0 front I/O module (part number: G11303260) and secure with screws.
7. Assemble parts back in reverse order carefully. Your case is now USB3 ready.
